I am transgendered myself…but I do agree with endocrinologist Dr. Cwynar. The child should be followed-up during adolescence and then wait and see. Communicating everything that’s happening to the doctor obviously makes for a better choice. I myself remember wanting to be a girl for all my life except now, after having been on female hormones for a year I went off them because I seriously began doubting. @Ezekiel2b Although I am 19, I have had the opportunity to live in the West and the Eastern parts of the world due to my dad’s job. The societies are very different and so are the their approach to sexuality. It also gives me an understanding of why sexual orientations that were once quite unheard of is becoming so apparent here. Comparison with our society’s history shows that our morals do not exist anymore. Yes freedom, But freedom has to be parallel to a healthy society and family.
@Ezekiel2b but if you research a little bit, you will realize its different among different societies. This is because of they way different societies present sexuality to the young people. The young people here are presented and have access to all sorts of sexuality at a time when they learn aspects of life, in the streets, in the media etc. This has caused them to embrace pervertism if approached. @Ezekiel2b Firstly, I respect who you are and I am not anti any sexual orientation though my opinion is different from yours. You are right that different people have different hormone levels. But every male has majority testosterone and every female has majority estrogen. Therefore it is impossible unless of genetic disorders for a male to be actually female naturally. @nofreedom4racists I didn’t grow up in around transgendered people, have infact never met one and didn’t even know the word untill i was 14. So, with your theory, explain why am i transgender? With the gay issue, theres evidence that its nature not nuture-and to do with the testosterone a baby recieves when in the womb. Theres no actual evidence supporting your opinion. And if kids became gay by growing up around gay people, why is homosexuality spread evenly throughout all groups of people?
I know a kid like this. His parents are conservative Christians and they discourage it. His dad makes him do “guy,” things like sports, jeans/tee shirts, working with power tools, drag racing, etc. It hasn’t changed him yet. He’s still feminine as hell. Friends and family constantly ridicule him by calling him gay, a wussy, pussy, etc. I disagree with their parenting style, but hey what can you do?

You don’t need a PHD in anything, all you need is a brain cell to figure it out. Why is it so hard for some folk to understand that things can go wrong with our sexualities and gender? If things can go wrong with other organs of the body, then things can go wrong when it comes to sexuality and gender. Every individual is different, some are more different than others. Easy peasy to understand. No qualifications necessary.
It all depends on what type of environment kids grow up in. It kids grow up in a place where people are gay, that kid will be gay. Same with straight kids. That is because our society is sexualized in areas where it shouldn’t be. People are bombarded by different types of sexuality so much that 13 year olds want to get pregnant and people want to experience sex as an opposite gender. This is hindering the natural development of sexuality of our people.

@slicingwater No one denies this child was born with a male body. Whats wrong with this kid is that they have a female brain in that male body. There are basic neurological differences between male brains and female brains. Regardless of what treatment you believe is appropriate, this is not a delusion.

Okay stop the bullshit. To be frankly honest there is something wrong with this kid. She is a he enough said. Its delusional and stupid. It’s like ignoring the fact you are going to die. Its not pleasant but it is true and it will happen. This idiotic indulgence must stop.
For a Transsexual child, forcing them to go through puberty without blocking their hormones it cruel torture. You are allowing their bone structure to be irreversibly changed making them look like the opposite gender for the rest of their life. How would you like to be a woman that always gets called sir because you have huge hands, broad shoulders, and no hips? That is the cruel reality I will suffer every day of my life.
This mother is strong, courageous and right. I can not change the fact that my brain is female, even though my body was born male. I only wish every parent could love there trans child enough to see them for WHO they are, not just WHAT they are. Denying them their own true identity does immeasurable damage, and often ends in suicide.
If you think you can change me, or any other transsexual with hockey lessons and a strong father figure, you are the one that needs to change.
@jocandel3 hormones not only affect hysical features, but they also affect brin chemicals too as fact as how one acts or feels. if that is your true gender identity, then one shouldnt need to hormone therapy to achieve it
I agree with you only when it comes to the very small percentage of ppl who are born as hermaphrodites, with both male and female genatalia. It is inherently wrong to define “who you are” based on who are what a person is attracted to or who or what a person unconsciously or consciously chooses to feel attracted to or who or what a person wants to have sex with..
